An Experiment...

Winged Wonders Kit - Artella

I have a confession to make... I've been cavorting at the Bloggy Giveaway Carnival. This innovative site, Bloggy Giveaways, invited blog keepers to host and post Giveaways, providing links to their own blogs. There were 890 Giveaways posted before further linking was closed! 890!

By the time I found out about this extravaganza, I was already hosting a Giveaway here at Eye-dyllic. I toyed with the idea of extending my deadline in order to participate, but my Giveaway had more of a personal nature. Instead, I decided to take on another challenge.

A few years ago, I won $1000.00 cash at a Greek Festival where there were hundreds of entries. I had never won anything of that magnitude. I was ecstatic! Up until that moment, winning raffles or drawings wasn't a regular feature in my life.

As I approached the Bloggy Giveaway Carnival, I began to wonder what the odds would be if I seriously increased my chances of winning. Call it a Birthday binge, but I decided to conduct an experiment and I'm letting you in on the action. My mission was to enter as many Giveaways as possible before the cutoffs. Several Giveaways didn't appeal to me; however, when all was said and posted, I had entered about 800 Giveaways! Gift cards to Starbucks,, and Target clearly drew the biggest crowds.

Calculating the odds would be too challenging. The average amount of posts would have to be determined on 890 Giveaways before a percentage could be established. Each Giveaway had it's own parameters, some giving away more than one prize. The amount of comments on each post varied from less than 100 to over 500.

So, what do you think my chances of winning are? I'm interested in your thoughts.

Most drawings will not be conducted until Sunday, February 3rd. I will be posting any wins right here.
  1. I won a book entitled, Echoes, from Carrie of Mommy Brain! (6 winners were chosen.)
  2. I won a free Life Coaching Session with Jena Strong of bullseye, baby!
  3. I won a Fix It and Forget It cookbook from Jill at Charming & Delightful!
  • After announcing a winner (and it wasn't me), one blog hostess invited the losers to make concession speeches in the comments section. She thought it would be entertaining if we expressed ourselves with Haiku. Having recently conducted a Haiku contest on my blog, I jumped on this one...

  1. Hi KJ! Thanks so much for coming by to visit me at my blog. As you can tell I'm more than a little behind in getting back to you! Happy belated Birthday wishes to you ... I celebrated 50 last year. Please be sure to stop by my blog for another chance at a giveway! Good luck with increasing your odds.

  2. I also entered many of the giveaways and was trying to weigh my odds of winning. After a bit of a headache I decided to stop trying the math, and just stick it out and wait to see if I win. I'm hoping I'll win one, I hope you win at least one too! :)

  3. I'm not sure, I think you might win at least one.
I have entered many and won only 2.
I guess that is pretty good.
I can't believe you entered so many.
    Good Luck!

  4. Well I found your blog by clicking a link that you won something, so you won at least 1 thing :) The first two times that they did this, I entered almost every contest & didn't win anything. This time I entered probably around 800 & so far haven't won yet :)

  5. Hi Kj, I'm just catching up & reading your last posts.
Well you should win something! You were a busy gal entering all those giveaways. Good luck.

Your birthday bash looks like a great time. I'm so happy for you. See, 50 isn't so bad after all. You look young! Hugs, DebraK

  11. I entered a lot of those same contests - mainly the ones with gift cards. So far... zilch. I can't even remember which ones I entered so I can't go back to check. Hopefully my email address went through each time, just in case!
