Viva la Watermelon

I have been craving watermelon lately—as you may have observed with my earlier July 4th post. Perhaps the word "craving" is putting it mildly. Nonetheless, "starving" would fail to convince anyone who has seen my well upholstered physique and "lusting" is far too strong. I have, however, been fantasizing about this luscious, pinkish-red, sweet dripping fruit. (Never mind that I also craved it during 2 of my pregnancies.)

Then, I received an email from with the headline, "Watermelons Work Like Viagra." I was on that email like hormones on chocolate! (Did I click the link? I don't recall.) Presto-chango, I was at the website and devouring every juicy detail. I'm not sure what my behavior says about me, but I'm willing to explore this matter...

The discovery deals with an ingredient called "
citrulline." You may read the article by clicking HERE.

Happy July 4th!

You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism. —Erma Bombeck

The Blogoversary Winner!!!

I'm always a little sad when Giveaways end: 1) because they are so much fun and 2) because there is only one winner. You're all WINNERS in my book! The expression, "Can you feel the love?" has deep meaning here. Thank-YOU!

My Blogoversary Winner is:

of The Downtown Boutique

I have Angie's link positioned in my top right sidebar. It's nifty that Angie won because her entire blog is devoted to Giveaways. She is continually introducing her guests to gifted individuals and wonderful resources. I don't know how often Angie wins, but it's her turn now! Congratulations, Angie! Drop me an email.

Kari & Kijsa of Ask Kari and Kijsa wrote and posted a Haiku (in honor of October 2007's "Let's Go Haiku-ku!") It speaks volumes...

There were 2 submissions for the art portion of the Giveaway: one being mine. My love for Dover illustrations had me dabbling with chalk pencils late last night! I am presenting mine first because Jessica's entry (below) took the artwork to another level.

The above submission was contributed by Jessica aka "wildhunnyblossom." Sumptuous summery sweets! Jessica earned a whopping 10 extra entries for doing this! She didn't win, but she was only 3 numbers away from the winning number. Great job, Jessica!

Good Morning!

I'm tickled when I discover the "eye-dyllic" link on other blogs. It's affirming—sort of like seeing my name in lights! I suppose that's the actress in me...

I laughed when I first spotted my blog listed as "KJ's Coffee Blog." I understood this perception since my earliest posts featured coffee related Giveaways. And I was loudly singing the praises of the French Press Coffee Maker!

As many of you are entering my current Giveaway, I am enjoying the references to your favorite posts from this blog. I am surprised, elated, and taking notes.
