Happy Thanksgiving!

"The Pilgrims made seven times more graves than huts. No Americans have been more impoverished than these who, nevertheless, set aside a day of thanksgiving."
-H.U. Westermayer

"When our perils are past, shall our gratitude sleep?"
-George Canning

"If you count all your assets, you always show a profit."
-Robert Quillen

"Not what we say about our blessings, but how we use them, is the true measure of our thanksgiving."

"Thanksgiving is nothing if not a glad and reverent lifting of the heart to God in honor and praise for His goodness."
-Robert Casper Lintner

"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow."
-Melody Beattie

God gave you a gift of 86,400 seconds today. Have you used one to say "thank you?"

More Gratitude

As we approach another Thanksgiving, much of my gratitude is centered on still being able to enjoy the company of my parents. Barry, my hubby, has already lost his parents as have many of my friends. And, I know quite a few people who are having to watch their parents fade into the grips of Alzheimer's Disease.

Karen of Artful Journey lost her mother to Alzheimer's on May 22, 2006. In July of 2008, Karen poignantly blogged about the summer before her mom passed away. Her mother spent hours crouched beneath the hot Sacramento sun, creating "little portraits of nature" in the garden. Using nature's castoffs, her mother would artfully organize objects while ignoring her own physical needs and infringing on the living spaces of her family. Karen's epiphany came when she was able to appreciate the beauty of what her mother felt compelled to create.

Urgent Prayer Request

Please pray for my Nigerian friends, Godwill, his wife Tina, and their children. (We attend La Palma Christian Center together.) On Sunday morning, their 18-month-old son stopped breathing and the paramedics were unable to resuscitate him. The family's last 2 children were born after a series of miscarriages, so you can imagine how even more devastating this is. Your prayers will be such an encouragement to them!

Best Blessings, KJ
